CHERNOBYL: Nuclear chem-Unmasking Chernobyl

On February 8, 2024, the Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a screening of the "Chernobyl" series at Sahya Arts and Science College. The event aimed to educate B.Sc Chemistry and B.Sc Geology students about the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The screening took place in the Seminar Hall of Sahya Arts and Science College. Assistant Professors Shabnam, Nashana, and Amjadkhan supervised the event, ensuring its smooth conduct and facilitating discussions among the attendees. Students from both the B.Sc Chemistry and B.Sc Geology programs actively participated in the screening session. The "Chernobyl" series is renowned for its accurate depiction of the events surrounding the disaster and its aftermath, making it a valuable educational resource for understanding the scientific, environmental, and social dimensions of the incident.

Following the screening of the first two episodes of the show, discussions were held to encourage critical thinking and reflection among the students. These discussions provided insights into the scientific principles and real-world implications of catastrophic events like Chernobyl. The event served as a meaningful educational initiative, aligning with the college's commitment to fostering holistic learning experiences and promoting interdisciplinary dialogue among students. The Department of Chemistry extends gratitude to the IQAC for their collaboration and support in organizing the screening event.
