Department Profile
Being a relatively new addition to the plethora of courses in the arena of Sahya College of Arts and Sciences, The department of geology was initiated in the early 2020 with its own signature approaches to science and learning. The department strives to evolve and maintain a multidisciplinary approach in the field of geology and to introduce a brand new world of scientific possibilities to both students and the society. Geology deals with the study of earth and the atmosphere, their processes, products and interactions. In simpler words, geology deals with the things people see and experience every day. It is the unique field of science where the very earth you stand on becomes your textbook. The applications of geology can vary from its scope in engineering like the construction of tunnels, bridges and dams, to the more research side of things which may include travelling back in time through the study of fossils and dinosaurs. Other applications include mapping, GIS and Remote Sensing, Oil Research, Disaster management and so much more. In terms of scope, Geology offers a vast spectrum of opportunities to its wielder.
